ABOUT

Hello, welcome, and thank you for taking the time to read my bio. I retired from the NHS as a senior nurse in 2007. I began my psychotherapy training in 2008, part of which was a clinical placement with Dundee Womens Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre where I then worked as a counsellor for almost 8 years gaining valuable experience working with trauma and abuse. In that time, I also worked as a volunteer at Statheden Mental Hospital for 2 years, which was a fantastic experience. I care passionately about mental health, and in 2012, when I completed my 4-year psychotherapy training, I worked for a year at St Andrews University as a student counsellor, which was fascinating work. I set up in private practice that year. I worked face to face with clients who were experiencing high levels of stress, relationship difficulties, mild, moderate and severe anxiety and depression, gender based violence and trauma from childhood abuse. Fast-forward to 2020, and during the pandemic, I decided to have additional training to offer therapy online. I enjoy this so much as it enables me to see people all over the UK and abroad. I am currently completing a PhD. I live on the East Coast of Scotland with my partner and three dogs.
